Whitfield’s engineers care about the cost
of every single element and aim to
minimise total installed cost.
Versatile
Suitable for roof or ground-mounting. Easy to install with two people. No cranes required.
Flexible
Aligns with solar site not with compass.
Low-load
Low weight and low wind-loading makes it suitable for roofs where conventional PV cannot be used.
Simple
Units fully assembled in the factory – work ‘out of the box’ reducing fully installed cost and increasing the speed and quality of the installation process.
Hail Impact
Durable design for peace of mind.
To ensure our customers have complete confidence in our product and save on insurance costs, we put the development of our lens to the ultimate test.
Creating 25mm diameter hail stones and then building a rig capable of firing them at 90kph demonstrated how critical lens design improvements means Whitfield Solar’s product now withstands major hail impact.
This improved durability also offers the potential for lower insurance premiums in high-risk areas.
Test sites
Globally-gathered data.
Long-term test sites in Spain, Cyprus and the UK have allowed Whitfield’s product to experience a wide range of weather conditions. Our development engineers are now armed with valuable insights and information thanks to on-sun testing for more than four years.
Wind-tunnel
A streamlined system.
Wind passes through Whitfield Solar’s product as it features a clever ‘open’ design positioning it head and shoulders above other PV systems, the majority of which are still affected by wind loading.
Extreme conditions
Real research, remarkable results.
Decades of research and development have seen Whitfield’s scientists and engineers learn from a wide range of real-world conditions including high winds, torrential rain, hail, ice, high ambient temperatures, salt, grit, dust and humidity.
Manufacture
- uses existing and proven manufacturing equipment and techniques
- highly efficient design means manufactured cost is closely linked to raw material costs
- majority of components can be sourced locally by ‘host’ automotive factory
- automation ensures low cost in all manufacturing economies
Installation
- only simple hand-tools required for both ground and roof-top installations
- no site ‘calibration’ – works ‘out of the box’
- not necessary to align the units to the south – can install in line with roof structure or field
- no below-ground foundations makes field installation quick and easy even on rocky ground
